Choosing the Right Wheel Alignment Machine FAQs

Finding the right wheel alignment equipment depends on your workshop space, the vehicles you work on and your budget. Here are the most common questions we get from workshops across the UK

Which types of wheel alignment systems does Supertracker offer?

We supply a full range of wheel alignment equipment for cars and commercial vehicles, including laser wheel alignment machines and CCD wheel alignment systems. Units can be supplied as mobile trolley versions or wall-hung to suit your workshop layout.

Which wheel aligner is best for my workshop?

The right wheel alignment machine depends on your workshop size, the vehicle types you work with, and your budget. Our team will review your needs and recommend the best system, Laser, CCD or compact CCD based on your workflow.

How do I choose between laser, CCD and 3D alignment?

Laser aligners are the most cost-effective and simple to operate. CCD wheel alignment  systems offer faster readings, more precision and before and after printouts. 3D systems usually require a fixed alignment bay and more space.

Do I need a dedicated alignment bay?

No - one of the biggest advantages of Supertracker CCD systems is flexibility. They do not require a dedicated bay, making them ideal for smaller workshops.

 What's new for Supertracker?

Our latest innovation is the COMPACT Tablet-Based CCD System, the smallest, most competitively priced CCD system on the market. It delivers fast readings, wireless connectivity and high portability.

How much does a Supertracker wheel alignment machine cost?

Prices start from £1,999 + VAT depending on the model and configuration.

What vehicles can I align?

Supertracker systems can be used on most cars, EVs and light commercial vehicles. Your product specialist can recommend the correct system for your vehicle mix.

Can I upgrade my existing Supertracker system?

Yes - many older laser systems can be upgraded to CCD. Our team can advise what is possible based on your current model.

Can I see a demonstration of the Supertracker Wheel Alignment systems in action?

Yes - we have a dedicated wheel alignment training and demonstration centre at our head offices in Worksop. You can book to visit.

Using Your Supertracker Equipment FAQs

These FAQs cover how your wheel alignment machine works day-to-day

How long does a Supertracker alignment take?

A standard wheel alignment typically takes anywhere from 5-20 minutes depending on the vehicle and system used. CCD wheel alignment systems deliver the fastest workflow.

Can I perform a wheel alignment on a 2-post lift?

We would always advise the best set up for wheel alignment is on a wheel alignment lift, as this provides the most accurate reading. When a dedicated alignment lift isn't available, we recommend using Supertracker alignment tables to simulate a level platform.

CCD systems also have a Freeze function, allowing you to lock readings while lifting/lowering the vehicle, making adjustments possible on a 2-post lift without data shift.

Does the CCD system come with a vehicle settings database?

Yes - all new CCD wheel alignment machines come with the latest vehicle database pre-installed.

Do Supertracker CCD systems support ANPR?

No - CCD systems do not support ANPR, but you can log and recall license plates.

How often do computerised wheel aligners need database upgrades?

Updates are released typically twice a year. You choose when to install them - before upgrading, we can share the vehicle list for the latest database release so you can decide whether or not to upgrade.

How do I update vehicle specifications or database information?

Our engineers complete database upgrades on-site at a convenient time, ensuring your system is running on the latest specifications. Individual vehicle specifications can be manually added to your database, contact our service team for information on how to do this.

How quickly can an engineer attend?

We offer nationwide engineer coverage, and response times vary by location. Contact the service team and we’ll provide the fastest available appointment.

Technical FAQs

For those operating Supertracker Wheel Alignment Equipment

What's the difference between the traditional red laser system and the new green laser aligners?

Green lasers are easier for the human eye to see, especially brighter environments. They offer strong visibility, better clarity, and improved precision, ideal for long-distance measurements for outdoor use.

What is the difference between 6-sensor and 8-sensor CCD systems?

Both provide full 4-wheel alignment data (Toe, Thrust, Camber, Caster, SAI)

The 8-sensor system includes extra rear cameras that provide data for rear set back as well as taking into account Track Width when measuring rear toe.

How does the compact tablet system differ from the cabinet version?

The COMPACT tablet CCD system is approximately 40% smaller, more maneuverable, with wireless communication and streamlined workflow. The cabinet version offers more storage and integrated hardware.
